Adding a Mailchimp opt-in to your download forms in WordPress
One of the best ways to grow your opt-in Mailchimp newsletter list is by offering great content. Adding a Mailchimp newletter opt-in to your WordPress download form can save you a lot of manual hassle.

You can think of combining a content offer and newletter opt-in from two different angle:
- Give your audience a reason to join your Mailchimp newsletter list by requiring them to fill out a form to receive your lead magnets. The primary objective of your WordPress form is to opt-in to the newsletter, the lead magnet is offered as bait. Or you can turn it around and;
- Offer great pieces of content as downloads, like e-books, white papers or reports, and offer to join the newsletter as additional option on the download form. The primary objective here is to generate a lead based on a specific interest in the journey of your buyer and capture an opt-in along the way.
Both approaches can work great, but do require some functionality in your WordPress and Mailchimp configuration. As your form needs to handle 2 requests:
- First your call to action form is a lead generation form. You collect contact details from a potential customer that might need follow-up or nurturing with relevant content.
- Second your form is a sign-up form for your marketing list. The contact needs to be added as an opt-in to your list in Mailchimp.
To enable both the download function and the opt-in in one form in Manceppo you can add select which Mailchimp lists you would like to add to your download form, as unchecked or prechecked checkbox.
With the Manceppo plugin you can create forms that handle both requests. So Manceppo integrated with Mailchimp is essentially results in a B2B Marketing Automation solution that collects all profile data requested in your form enriched with tracking details of the visit. Using a Manceppo download form on your WordPress website you can send out an email with the requested download and track whether your new lead opens the message and clicks the download.
Notice in the profile details above that the lead profile has also been added to the Manceppo newsletter Mailchimp list. This list has been connected to Manceppo using the Mailchimp API.
So using Manceppo enables you to handle the download request and add an opt-in to one (or more) of your Mailchimp list(s). Read our blog on other considerations when integrating Mailchimp with WordPress here. Or get started with Manceppo and ‘Plug & Play with your favorite marketing tools!’.
